David GardnerPartner, London Download CV Download vCard
David has more than twenty years of experience in advising on oil, gas and wind projects and disputes worldwide.
During this time he has experienced fluctuations in the price of oil from US$ 0 (negative) to US$150 per barrel, seen the evolution of the LNG industry from a “floating pipeline” for the transportation of stranded gas to a sophisticated industry producing gas for trading worldwide from billion dollar projects, and the evolution of the offshore wind industry into a significant source of energy.
From an environmental perspective these industries can appear very different but for a lawyer they have much in common. The construction, installation and operation of the units that drill, produce/generate and transport the oil, gas and electricity generated frequently involved cutting edge technology operating in a difficult meteorological environment.
In addition, and given their long term nature, projects of this type are often dependent on the political, fiscal and regulatory regimes that underpin the host country, and on global developments more widely. These and other developments generate new challenges for the project contracts and new sources of disputes.
David has the experience that comes from advising many of the leading LNG, floating production, wind and offshore construction projects of the last 20 years. He also has the experience to manage the problems that can arise under these contracts and if necessary to arbitrate or litigate these problems to a successful conclusion.
