Erling specializes in capital markets work, public-to-private transactions, securities law and PE/M&A. After various other positions Erling joined Schjødt in 1981 and has been a partner since 1985. He has worked abroad (Paris), has foreign studies from Ohlone College in California and an LL.M. from New York University. Erling was admitted to the Supreme Court of Norway in 1997.
Erling is considered as leading within his field and is rated as one of Norway's leading lawyers in all relevant publications. He has long and broad experience in complex negotiations and transactions, frequently with a cross border dimension.
Erling has since 1997 been responsible for the annual handbook ("Materialsamling") within Capital Markets and Securities Law in Norway, altogether 20 volumes. He has published several articles within the field, including "Norwegian securities transactions in the US market" (1998), "Analysis and corporate work within investment banks" (2002), "Stabilization, overallotment and greenshoe - some reflections" (2004) and "Engagement letters for investment banks in corporate finance transactions - some selected topics" (2009). Erling is the main editor of the section for Company Law, Securities and Finance of Gyldendal Rettsdata, the main legal database in Norway.
Erling is the head of Schjødt's China Desk.
